The Fishguard Bay Sustainable Food Initiative was established in January 2024 following the success of the inaugural Fishguard Bay Food Festival in 2023. We are a volunteer-led Community Interest Company and the official organisers of the Fishguard Bay Food Festival and Ford Pawb, our community kitchen at Fishguard Town Hall.
Our Purpose
The Fishguard Bay Sustainable Food Initiative was born from the passion of a group of local volunteers determined to make a positive difference in our community.
We believe that food has the power to bring people together. Through community events, education and practical projects, we celebrate local food, support wellbeing and help build a stronger, more resilient community.
Today, we are proud to organise the Fishguard Bay Food Festival and run Ford Pawb, our community kitchen at Fishguard Town Hall. Together, these projects create opportunities for people to connect, learn new skills, support local producers and enjoy good food in welcoming spaces.
Everything we do is guided by a simple vision: that everyone should have access to nutritious food, meaningful connections and the opportunity to be part of a thriving local food community.
Our work focuses on:
- Supporting access to good, nutritious food for everyone.
- Celebrating Welsh food, drink and culture.
- Building partnerships with local producers, growers and businesses.
- Creating opportunities for learning, volunteering and developing new skills.
- Supporting young people to engage with the local food economy.
- Reducing social isolation by bringing people together around food.
- Promoting sustainability and strengthening our local food system for future generations.
While our work celebrates the very best of Pembrokeshire’s food culture, it also responds to the challenges facing our community. Rising living costs and increasing food insecurity mean that many people struggle to access healthy, nutritious food. Through projects such as Ford Pawb, we hope to create welcoming spaces where everyone feels they belong.
The need for projects like Ford Pawb is clear. According to Pembrokeshire County Council:
“In 2021/22, Pembrokeshire has the fourth higher percentage of children living in relative poverty, some 24.7%. Pembrokeshire has the second highest rate of absolute child poverty in Wales at 17.2%.”
Future Plans
Our next initiative, Ford Pawb (Everyone’s Table), opens on 20th July 2026 at Fishguard Town Hall. The community kitchen will provide nutritious, home-cooked meals on a pay what you can basis, ensuring that everyone can enjoy good food regardless of their circumstances.
More than just a place to eat, Ford Pawb is a welcoming community space where people can come together over food, conversation and companionship. Whether you’re joining us for a meal, or simply dropping in for a chat, everyone is welcome.
We believe that community kitchens are where strangers become neighbours, sharing not only meals but also stories, laughter and a sense of belonging. Food has a unique way of bringing people together, and Ford Pawb is built on that simple idea.
